terrains in the United States. She is professionally trained in backcountry first response, wilderness ethics, and endurance sports, with expertise in cold-weather hiking, navigation, and emergency preparedness.
Allison's deep connection to the alpine world began in childhood having been named for the Adirondack High Peak which her parents were married on - Cascade. She explored the peaks with her father, the respected mountaineer and landscape photographer, Bill Kozel—the 22nd person to complete the Winter 46 Challenge and ultimately Allison became an Adirondack 46er in 1994 at just 12 years old. This journey sparked a lifelong commitment to wilderness preservation, and over the years, she has gone on to complete multiple rounds of the 46, including her Winter 46 and a special round with her beloved dog Crosby.
